Welcome to a supportive creative atmosphere
South West Photo Walks are designed to feel easy, friendly, and pressure‑free. Whether you’re brand new to photography or you’ve been shooting for years, you’ll be welcomed into a community that values curiosity, creativity, and connection.
My approach
01.
Collaboration, Not Competition
Our walks bring together photographers and models who want to create, learn, and build their portfolios in a supportive environment. You’ll have opportunities to collaborate, share ideas, and experiment with new techniques.
02.
Beautiful Locations
Each walk is held in a carefully chosen South West location — beaches, forests, heritage sites, or hidden local gems. Expect a mix of guided moments and free shooting time so you can explore the space in your own way.
03.
Hands‑On Guidance (If You Want It)
I’m here to help you grow. Throughout the walk, you can ask questions about camera settings, composition, lighting, posing, or anything you’re curious about. Prefer to explore quietly and shoot at your own pace? That’s totally fine too.
04.
A Simple, Relaxed Flow
No pressure, no rush — just a gentle rhythm that lets creativity unfold naturally.
What’s the structure of a typical photo walk?
Each walk follows a relaxed, simple flow designed to help you ease in and get creative. We start with a casual meet‑and‑chat, followed by a quick briefing and safety notes. Then we warm up with an easy game before heading into 30 minute rotations. Each model/ photographer/ location changes, kind of like speed dating! We wrap up together at the end, giving everyone a chance to share ideas or take any last minute snaps.
What should I bring?
For Photographers
• Your camera of choice — DSLR, mirrorless, film
• A charged battery and memory card
• Any lenses or accessories you love using
• Optional: props or creative ideas that fit the theme
• Comfortable shoes and water
For Models
• Outfits that suit the theme of the walk
• Accessories, props, or styling pieces that help bring the concept to life
• Touch‑up items (hairbrush, clips, makeup, etc.)
• Comfortable shoes for moving between locations
• Water and anything you need to feel your best
Can I collaborate with the models and other photographers?
Absolutely. Collaboration is at the heart of South West Photo Walk. You’ll have opportunities to work with models, share ideas with other photographers, and experiment with creative concepts. Many participants continue collaborating long after the walk ends.
Do I need to be an experienced photographer or model to join?
Not at all. Our walks are open to every level — from absolute beginners to seasoned creatives. You can ask for as much guidance as you like, or explore quietly at your own pace. There’s no pressure and no competition, just a supportive space to learn and create.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We shoot in most conditions, but safety always comes first. If the weather becomes unsafe or unworkable, you’ll receive an update with plenty of notice. Otherwise, we embrace the mood — overcast skies, soft rain, and dramatic light can all make for beautiful images.
What happens after the walk?
You’re welcome to share your images in our community spaces, tag the models, and stay connected with the creatives you met. The walks often spark new friendships, future shoots, and ongoing creative partnerships. Photographers retain copyright but models are free to post and crop images as they like. Everyone involved gets a mention each time the images are published. A great way to build your profile!
