I’m Alexis — photographer, teacher, and community‑builder

I pick up my camera to find the beauty in the simplest moments

I’m a photographer and teacher in the South West, working with emerging creatives and anyone who wants to grow their skills in a relaxed, supportive environment.
My work blends portraits, storytelling, and a love of light but I’m equally obsessed with movement, colour, and the magic that happens when you let creativity lead the way.

Fact 1

I lived in Perth most of my life and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UWA, majoring in photography and filmmaking in 2005. I have worked independently as a film-maker, documentary director and freelance photographer since then.

02.

Fact 2

I was first introduced to the wild magic of darkroom photography in 2001 when I was studying art in Helsinki. I have loved that whole experience ever since and still have a darkroom tucked away in storage for a rainy day (or retirement?)... Pinholes, camera obscura, dodge & burn, - name your fav darkroom-party-trick and I'm your gal.

03.

Fact 3

My work has featured in exhibitions and festivals, including the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, Artrage Festival, Kerb Gallery, and the Printmakers Association of Western Australia. I've done a few other fun things like artist-in residence's and community art events too.

Fact 4

I'm a mum and all the fun stuff that comes with that, so after a few attempts at finding a new direction (sanity?) I studied teaching post-grad and completed a Diploma of Education, majoring in Visual Arts, in 2017. I moved to Busselton in 2018 where I now teach Photography and Media full-time, inspiring the next generation of visual storytellers.

KIND WORDS

"I absolutely loved being part of the Southwest Photo Walk! It was such a fun and relaxed experience, meeting new people and getting inspired while exploring the beautiful Southwest. I came home with photos I’m really proud of and a big boost of creative energy. Highly recommend to anyone who loves photography or just wants to try something new—I can’t wait for the next one!"
